The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign is in dire need of donations to support crucial programs in the city.

With just two weeks to go, this year's Christmas Kettle campaign is short more $300,000 dollars.

They are hoping to raise $625,000 by Christmas Eve but so far they have only collected around $285,000.

The Salvation Army Ottawa Booth Centre's Executive Director, Marc Provost, said weather could be playing a role in the lack of donations because people are in the Christmas spirit.

Provost says this could put plenty of programs and services in jeopardy.

“It funds emergency services, when there are big fires, floods evacuations, also our community and family services, we assist people with food, clothing, furniture, summer camps, all kids of different things,” said Provost.

Kettle bells will be set up across the city until the 24th. This leaves organizers with two weeks to make up the funding.

“I’d like to encourage the community to think of the Salvation Army and help us reach our goals so that we can continue providing services across the city,” said Sean Maddox, Director of Public Relations and development at the Salvation Army.

A kettle bell will be set up outside the Bell Media studio at 87 George on Tuesday, December 15th.
