More than one week after a fire gutted CTV Ottawa's newsroom on Merivale Road, fire investigators are still not allowed in the building due to safety concerns.

Ontario's Ministry of Labour has not yet deemed the building safe for inspection.

Parts of the roof are considered unstable, and that needs to be fixed before anyone is given clearance to enter the building.

A crane was expected to start removing pieces of the roof on Tuesday.

There is also concern about high levels of asbestos in the building.

Tenants who rent space in the office tower attached to CTV's news operations are also not allowed back in their offices.

There is no word on when the fire marshal might be able to start investigating the cause of the blaze.
