An Ottawa facility that provides mental health services to children will keep its doors open after it faced the threat of bankruptcy.

The board of directors at the Roberts/Smart Centre previously said the institution would be forced to file for bankruptcy at the end of May if the centre couldn't find a solution to deal with a $200,000-shortfall.

Now, a three-year deal with union employees and a provincial government review has given the centre new life.

The residential facility has operated for several years without an increase in provincial funding. It treats more than 200 children every year.
