Police say the remains found in a burned-out home west of Ottawa on Saturday were those of an elderly man.
Officers found the remains of Aaron Barr in a rural cottage close to Renfrew. The home was so remote that it could only be reached by snowmobile.
Barr was in his ‘70's.
Police say they were asked to go to the home to check in on him. When they arrived, the home was burned down.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
