It's a story of country girl meets city boy. Jennifer's from Hallville, Ontario. LeRoy is from Detroit, Michigan. They set eyes on one another at a concert in Toronto, fell in love, and got married. He moved to Canada, and this year the couple opened a restaurant in Hallville. They serve authentic American style soul food--fried chicken, savory ribs, catfish, collared greens and sweet potato pie--dishes based on the recipes of LeRoy's grandmother and great grandmother. It's homemade, comfort food served in a family friendly atmosphere. Jean Albert's has relocated to 495 Somerset St. W in Ottawa.
Hours are Tues. to Fri. 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Sat. to Sun. 11:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Closed on Mon. You can reach LeRoy or Jennifer at 613-569-5326. The restaurant was previously located in Hallville.
