Ed Nottle has been relieved of his managerial duties by the Ottawa Rapidz while visiting his ailing wife.
Nottle was notified by the baseball team's owners during his leave of absence at his permanent residence in Indiana, where his wife is battling cancer.
While he was away, the Rapidz won five straight games. Nottle's track record with the Rapidz is 15 wins and 41 losses.
Nottle says he's now back in Ottawa to pack-up and say goodbye to some of the people he has met.
Batting coach Tom Carcione will take over the post for the remainder of the season.
