The federal and provincial governments are combining to spend $100 million on widening a three-kilometre stretch of the Queensway.
The project involves widening Hwy. 417 from six to eight lanes between Maitland Avenue and Island Park Drive.
Ottawa South MP David McGuinty announced up to $47.57-million in federal funding today, matching the funds from the province.
That money will also go towards rehabilitating the Merivale Road bridge.
Earlier this year, the province announced plans to expand the Queensway from Island Park Drive all the way to Highway 416.
This funding covers the first stretch of that plan.
