A prominent Ottawa surgeon continues to fight for his life after a horrific weekend collision in Ottawa's west end.

Dr. Don Chow, an orthopedic surgeon and team doctor for the Ottawa Senators, was riding his motorcycle on Fisher Avenue when he collided with a vehicle at about 3 p.m. Saturday. He remains in hospital with critical injuries.

Police say it appears the driver of the vehicle turned in front of the motorcycle. The woman suffered minor injuries.

"I heard a big crash and saw a man flying through the air," said area resident Isabelle Allison, who was standing at her kitchen window when the crash occurred.

"You don't forget that . . . I had dreams about it last night."

Chow, 53, has worked for the Ottawa Senators since 1992. He was also the tournament doctor for the 2009 World Juniors and for Team Canada at last year's World Hockey Championships.
