Poland's new ambassador to Canada is rushing home after his two children died in a car crash while visiting Poland Monday afternoon.
Ambassador Zenon Kosiniak-Kamysz's two children, Michal, 19, and Maria, 15, were on holidays in Poland with their 20-year-old cousin when their vehicle crashed. All three died in the collision.
The ambassador and his wife were in Ottawa when they received the news.
The Polish Embassy says their thoughts and prayers are with the ambassador's family. They also thank the Canadian government and the Ottawa community for sending their condolences.
The family moved to the capital last December. They were regular church-goers at St. Hyacinth Roman Catholic Church, where both children attended youth groups.
The church plans a mass for the children when the ambassador and his wife return to the capital.
