Ottawa police have finished their investigation of Heatherington Park in south Ottawa, confirming it was connected to accused serial killer Camille Cleroux.

Neighbours said police had been looking at the park with dogs last week and began digging Wednesday around 9:00 a.m.

Police called it "another productive step" in their investigation into Cleroux, age 57.

He has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the 2010 death of Paula Leclair, as well as former wives Lise Roy and Jean Rock.

Cleroux lived in the area with the latter two women at the time of both their disappearances.

Human remains were found on Oct. 31 in the yard of a home on Heatherington Road where neighbours said Cleroux used to live.

Cleroux was going through a preliminary hearing for those three charges earlier this month when the case was adjourned.

Police said they won't be releasing any further information regarding the Heatherington Park search in order to not jeopardize the ongoing investigation.
