Police say they won't lay charges after a seven-year-old boy was killed by a tree that his father was trying to remove after Sunday night's storm.
Police say seven-year-old Alexis Breton Sanctuaire was standing in a hole that was left open when a tree was uprooted on a family friend's property in La Peche, Que.
When the boy's father cut the tree, it shifted, causing the tree to return to its original position and trapping the boy underneath.
Although the boy's parents tried to dig him out with their hands, they had to remove the stump with a pick-up truck.
The boy was rushed to hospital in Wakefield and then transported to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario where he died from his injuries.
The boy's parents have decided to donate his organs. An autopsy is being conducted Thursday at the Ottawa Hospital.
