Ontario Provincial Police have ruled out foul play in the death of a 54-year-old Smith Falls man who was found unconscious in an unheated shed earlier this week.

Police discovered Paul Witham in an ice hut near Port Elmsley Road in Drummond North Elmsley on Tuesday morning.

He was transported to hospital where he died of his injuries.

A police investigation revealed Witham was driving on the Big Rideau River on Monday when his pickup truck got stuck. He left his vehicle and sought shelter in an unheated shed.

Police say his death appears to have been caused by misadventure.
