The Ottawa Police Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation into a woman missing since late April .
Mary Papatsie, 39, is described as 5-foot-3, with a medium build and long brown hair. She has a scar above her left eye from a piercing.
Police say Papatsie may have been wearing black jogging pants, a brown t-shirt and blue and orange flip-flops when she went missing.
She also may have been carrying a purple and black backpack filled with other clothing.
