Ottawa police are investigating a series of daytime break-ins in the Blackburn Hamlet area in east Ottawa.

Police say 16 break-ins have been reported in the area since June 2010. 

The suspects typically enter the homes through the rear doors or windows, getting away with jewelry, cash, collectables and small electronics.

Police say they believe the suspects are travelling on foot, and they may be accessing backyards from nearby parks.

Police ask residents to report anything suspicious in the area.
