Ottawa police are offering a $50, 000 reward for information that could help the investigation into the murder of Pamela Kosmack.

Kosmack's body was found beaten and partially naked in Ottawa's west end on June 4, 2008.

"I'm hoping there are going to be a lot of tips," said Kosmack's sister, Cindy Kosmack Murch. "Get my sister's name back out there. I don't want anybody to forget about it."

No arrests have ever been made in Kosmack's case. Police hope this reward, which will come out of the police budget, will help change that.

"They're looking for an additional tool in a tool box," said Coun. Eli El-Chantiry, chair of the police services board. "The reward is an additional tool and we don't want to deny them that extra tool."

The last time police offered a similar reward was in 2008 after the triple homocide of a retired tax court judge, his wife and their neighbour. The reward was worth $100, 000.

The reward in that case went unclaimed. Murch hopes it will encourage someone to come forward in her sister's case.

"We're really hoping whoever did this to my sister does get caught," she said.
