An 18-year-old Ottawa man is charged in connection with a vicious attack that left an Ottawa woman in a coma when she was robbed after she tried to sell a piece of jewelry through an online ad.

Police say Yonis Awais Hassan is facing multiple charges in connection with the case. He appeared in court on Friday.

Meanwhile, Natalie Galipeau, 31, continues to recover from serious injuries four months after the attack, which put her in a medically-induced coma for four days.

The assault happened after Galipeau arranged to meet a potential buyer who contacted her about a sapphire and diamond bracelet she was selling on usedottawa.com.

When two men came to her Orleans home to see the bracelet, the situation quickly turned bad. Somehow, she was dragged by a car and the men took off with the jewelry.

Galipeau's husband -- who was upstairs with their kids at the time of the incident --found his wife 40 metres down the street.

She suffered a brain injury, broken teeth and a broken jaw. Pain is now an everyday struggle.

"The arm pain I can deal with, but the headaches, they make me cry sometimes -- they're so strong," Galipeau told CTV Ottawa in an exclusive interview.

Hassan is also charged with another theft involving an online transaction. Police say that incident involved a woman who had a bracelet stolen by two men when they met on Walkley Road in June. The men fled the scene in a vehicle.

Hassan is also charged in connection with an armed robbery outside a pizza parlour on Alta Vista Drive two weeks ago.

He faces two counts each of robbery and conspiracy, as well as one count of aggravated assault, theft, dangerous operation of a vehicle and failing to remain at the scene. Police say more charges are pending.

Although one arrest has been made, police are still looking for a second male suspect in connection with the August robbery and attack.

Those who sell and buy items online are being urged by police to proceed with caution. Galipeau said the best advice she can offer is to have someone with you at all times.

Anyone with information about any of the robberies is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5492.
