A Markham man is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of an Ottawa man and another victim who were killed and stuffed in the trunk of an abandoned rental car near Toronto about seven months ago.
Durham Regional Police arrested John Le, 38, without incident on Thursday. He is charged with two counts of murder, kidnapping, forcible confinement and using a firearm in commission of an indictable offence.
Investigators found the bodies of Puneet Singh Chhina, 26, of Ottawa, and Harjinder Singh Sandhu, 28, of Brampton, in a car that was parked near Taunton and Rosebank Roads in Pickering on May 5. The victims had been beaten and shot.
Police say their investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
