Ottawa police are investigating after receiving a report that a woman who was trying on engagement rings at a jewelry store in the Rideau Centre ran out of the store with a ring valued at more than $50,000.

Ottawa police say the incident happened after the woman asked to try on engagement rings shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday.

Police say as the salesperson handed the suspect a second ring to try on, she ran out of the store.

The woman is described as about six feet tall and about 130 pounds. She has dark curly hair with a darker complexion. She was wearing dark-coloured jeans and a dark tank top at the time of the incident.
