JOYCEVILLE, ONT. -- Police in eastern Ontario say they're investigating the death of a federal prison inmate as a homicide.

Provincial police say they began looking into the case on Sunday when they received report of an injured man at the Joyceville Institution near Kingston, Ont.

They say the 43-year-old man was found with life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital, but did not provide any details.

They say Glen Darrell Vandusen died on Wednesday as a result of his undisclosed injuries.

Police have not indicated if any arrests have been made.

They say the investigation remains active.
