Ottawa Police are investigating after a teen says he was robbed of his hoverboard at knifepoint in the city’s south end Monday night.

Jeffrey Latreille says he was at the intersection of Baycrest Drive and Cedarwood Drive when five young men and a woman approached him and stole his hoverboard he spent $400 on and had only been using for a week.

He says he followed them but one of the men “pulled out a knife and said he was going to cut my throat open,” Latreille said.

Ottawa Police confirmed they’ve launched an investigation but couldn't comment on specifics around this case.

Latreille says he hopes whoever is responsible is caught and is looking online to see if anyone is trying to sell his hoverboard.
