Ottawa Police have identified the two people found dead inside a home in Ottawa's east end Saturday evening in an apparent murder-suicide.

Ottawa Police were called to 302 Cote Royale Cres. just behind Place D'Orleans shopping mall shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday. Inside, they found the bodies of Alicia Bateman and Ryan Sawchuk. Both were 28 years old and from Calgary, Alta.

There are unconfirmed reports they had been involved in a relationship and had planned to get married in October, but neighbours said Bateman lived alone.

Neighbours described Bateman as a petite, blonde woman who was often seen jogging in the area.

"I've never seen another man here," neighbour Christine Burns told CTV Ottawa.

"It's been about a year... her boyfriend moved away. Apparently he moved back to Calgary but that's all I know. She was alone, I never saw anyone come in and out of the house."

The causes of death have not yet been determined.
