Ontario police have called off the search for two men suspected of stealing a vehicle from a rural home in the community of Sharbot Lake, north of Kingston on Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the home on Shibley Road at around 9:40 a.m., later finding the suspects had abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Late Wednesday afternoon police said the search was over because the suspects had likely left the area. The case has now been turned over to the Lanark County crime unit.

Police said the suspects were both considered armed and dangerous. They are described as white males, around fifty years old, with graying hair and wearing dark clothes.

OPP had been urging residents in the areas of Shibley Road, County Road 38 and Clement Road south of Sharbot Lake, to be especially aware of any suspicious people in the area.

Search dogs and the OPP helicopter were assisting with the manhunt.
