Ontario Provincial Police have charged a Trenton man after a routine traffic stop on Trenton's Creswell Drive Wednesday morning.

Police allege Steven Kingsley, 52, refused to get out of his vehicle or cooperate with officers. He was then removed from the vehicle and taken into police custody.

After an investigation, police say they found a large knife and a loaded gun.

Kingsley is charged with possession of a loaded firearm, uttering a death threat, assaulting police, careless transportation of a firearm with ammunition, possession of a large knife and carrying a concealed weapon.

He is also being charged with failing to display ministry plates, driving while suspended and driving without insurance.

Kingsley was scheduled to appear in a Belleville courtroom Thursday afternoon.
