A 45-year-old Carleton Place man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning following a seven-hour standoff with police at his home after someone asked authorities to check on his well-being.

OPP officers were called at 7:50 p.m. to a Frank Street residence, where the man barricaded himself inside after refusing to comply.

Crisis negotiators and tactical officers arrived to assist. Police cordoned off an area around the home while they continued to communicate with the man.

Officers entered the home at 3:20 a.m. and apprehended the man without incident.

There were no injuries, but the man was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
