Members of the Ottawa police marine dive unit searched the Ottawa River near the Quyon Ferry dock west of Ottawa on Saturday after a vehicle possibly went through the ice at Ferry Road.
The search was suspended Saturday night because of the lack of light and weather conditions. Police said the search will resume Sunday morning.
Police will not say if this investigation is connected to the search for a missing Fitzroy Harbour mother and son who have been missing since Jan. 17.
Police said evidence at Ferry Road and the Ottawa River indicated a vehicle possibly broke through the ice. A vehicle has not been recovered as of yet.
There are reports that debris was found on Ferry Road along with skid marks and that's what led police to believe a vehicle is in the river.
This investigation is taking place not far from the home of 61-year-old Donna Graves in Fitzroy Harbour.
Police continue to search for her and her 29-year-old son Daron Graves. The pair was last seen around 11 p.m. Thursday in Arnprior.
Donna Graves is described as white, five-feet-six, weighing 200 pounds with long, dark brown hair.
She was last seen wearing jeans, a blue fleece jacket with horse motif and a black leather first.
Daron Graves is described as white, six feet tall, 180 pounds with short red hair. He was last seen wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a dark coat.
It is believed Donna Graves was driving a black 2013 Dodge Dart with Ontario license plate BPZS 499.
