Ottawa police are continuing their hunt for suspects in the stabbing death of a well-liked teacher in the city's east end.

Police say 46-year-old Simoahmed El Fenne was found dead inside a home on Chelsea Drive in the community of Manor Park just after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Police said El Fenne might have been dead for a couple of days before an acquaintance discovered his body.

The man, who was a teacher at De Lasalle High School, was remembered by students in an online tribute on Facebook as a kind person who had a smile for everyone. By Tuesday night, more than 350 people had joined the online group.

El Fenne is the city's sixth homicide of the year. Ottawa police still have no suspects in his death. On Monday, police reminded residents to be cautious and not to open the door for strangers.

An autopsy was performed on El Fenne's body on Monday but police are not releasing any details.
