Ottawa Police say a 51-year-old man, who was rushed to hospital Wednesday evening with life-threatening injuries, has died.

Ottawa Paramedics were called to the intersection of Bank Street and Rideau Road around 7:50 p.m. for a crash between a car and a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle was treated for multi-system trauma at the scene and then rushed to hospital with critical injuries.

Police said, in a news release overnight, that the man's condition had been upgraded to serious but stable.

But in a follow-up release Thursday afternoon, police announced the man had succumbed to his injuries in hospital Thursday morning.

His identity is not being released.

Police continue to investigate.
