Police in Gatineau have found evidence leading them to believe a woman who was found with serious burns to her face and upper body at a Gatineau school was attempting to commit suicide.

The unidentified woman, who is in her 20s, was found in a parking lot behind the Cegep de l'Outaouais campus in Gatineau at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman apparently told police there could be other victims. The K-9 unit searched for others in a wooded area nearby; however, no other victims were discovered.

The school's student association told CTV Ottawa on Wednesday that the injured woman is not a student enrolled at the school.

The Cegep campus backs onto Gatineau Park, which is regularly patrolled by the National Capital Commission. However, there were no patrols in the area at the time of the incident.

The woman is in hospital in Montreal where she's being treated for her injuries.
