Two people are facing charges after a 25-year-old Ottawa man was held up in an apparent swarming and armed robbery outside a west-end apartment building.

Police say the victim was accosted by a pair of suspects armed with a handgun as he walked through the parking lot of an apartment complex on Fisher Avenue near Baseline Road at about 11 p.m. on Thursday.

The victim was pulled into a secluded area where he was robbed, say police. Although he was not injured, he was badly shaken up during the incident.

Police arrested two male suspects later that night after officers were tipped off on the suspects' whereabouts. Police say the victim's property was also recovered.

Ishmel Boakye-Boateng, 21, and Tariq Yaseen Stanley, 18, both face a number of charges, including uttering death threats, robbery and pointing a firearm.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
