Ottawa police have charged a man in connection with two bank robberies that place earlier this month.

Michael Stead, 57, has been charged with two counts of robbery and one count of wearing a disguise.

The first robbery took place on January 3 at a bank on Preston Street. The second case happened about two weeks later on January 19 at a bank on Bank Street in south Ottawa.

A man entered the bank and demanded cash. He was seen fleeing in a vehicle and was stopped by police shortly after.

He was taken into custody without incident.
