Ottawa police have charged five people after finding firearms, converted paintball grenades and a stash of drugs at three residences in Ottawa's south end.

Detectives from the drug section and guns and gangs section made the find after they searched the residences in the McCarthy Road area on Thursday, April 3.

Police said they were tipped off that the five were trafficking cocaine, crack and marijuana, and were in possession of firearms.

Upon searching the residences, police found 359 grams marijuana, 84 grams cocaine, 22 grams crack, a 44-calibre handgun, a magnum revolver, 200 rounds ammunition and two converted paintball hand grenades. Police also found around $5,000.

Charged are: Abraham Matar, 19; Rami Ghaith, 21; Samantha Anderson, 20; Ramin Khaleyi, 20; and a young offender.
