The Ottawa police elder abuse section has charged a personal support worker in Ottawa with two counts of assault against a resident at a seniors' home.

Police say the alleged victim is a resident at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre on Russell Road in Ottawa's east end.

The personal support worker, 58-year-old Rey Lozada, was arrested and charged with assault on Wednesday.

The health care centre offers long-term, short-term and respite care for seniors. It is home to 450 residents, 250 of whom are veterans.
