A retired army major says more needs to be done to protect the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Dr. Michael Pilon recently captured photos of people sitting and standing on the tomb, which is built in front of the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

Pilon, who also photographed men urinating on the war memorial last summer, says it's time to hire an honour guard to protect the tomb.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier holds the remains of an unidentified Canadian soldier who died in the First World War and represents the more than 116,000 Canadians who have died in past conflicts.
