PEMBROKE, Ont. - Police have arrested and charged a Pembroke man following an online child sexual exploitation investigation.

The OPP Child Sexual Exploitation unit received information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security last Friday that an unknown individual was attempting to make arrangements via the Internet to sexually abuse a child.

Police say their investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a Pembroke residence last weekend in which electronic devices containing images of child sexual abuse were seized.

Derek Clayton Joyce, 37, has been arrested and charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of making arrangement or agreement to commit a sexual offence against a child.

The investigation is continuing.
