Residents living in east-central Ottawa are bracing for a fight if school board officials push ahead with plans to close Colonel By or Rideau high schools.

Several hundred placard-waving parents and students attended a community panel report Tuesday night on the pros and cons of closing any of the schools selected for possible closure.

Although the school board says dropping enrollment is the reason the schools may close, many parents say they don't feel the board is listening to their concerns.

The final date for public input is May 8.
