Ottawa residents were mourning the loss of one of the city's most prominent citizens and businessmen Friday.

Eric Vivian, the owner of Lapointe Fish Market, died at his home Thursday after a long battle with brain cancer.

Vivian took over the store from his father Eric Sr. in 1972, making it a fixture in Ottawa's Byward Market.

His funeral will be held Nov. 1 in Wakefield, Que.

Vivian is survived by his wife and four daughters. He was 63 years old.
