An Ottawa woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to impaired driving causing the death of a Greely teen who was riding his bike home from work last September.

Samira Daoud, 41, also pleaded guilty to charges of mischief and breaches of court orders that required her not to drink alcohol.

She was originally charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

Daoud was driving without a licence when she struck and killed 16-year-old Alex Hayes on Sept. 9. He was cycling along a rural stretch of road in Ottawa's south end on his way home from work at the local grocery store.

Family and friends set out to search for the teen when he didn't return home. Police later discovered his body in a ditch near the 5700 block of Bank Street.

Daoud was arrested that same night for drunk driving in connection with another incident. A sentencing hearing for Daoud is scheduled for Feb. 28.
