It was just another day at work for Sherry Joy, waiting tables at the Brookstreet Hotel, until Oprah Winfrey sat down at one of her tables.

Sherry says she had been praying for a connection with the queen of talk. She got that, and a pair of tickets to the show.

“It gave me those chills up the spine,”says Sherry. “I thought this was meant to be for whatever reason.”

Then in front of more than 15-thousand people Oprah told the story of her waitress "Sherry".

“I was just so overwhelmed that she mentioned me in the show,” says Sherry. “I think that is a very nice thing for someone of her stature to do.”

The experience has left her inspired. Now Sherry is thinking of going back to school to take some classes in design.

"I'll never forget it in my life. When I was lying in bed last night I thought this has changed my life. I can't explain in what way it just has.”

CTV's Natalie Pierosara will have more on this story tonight at six.
