Ottawa Police have charged a Teaching Assistant with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board with sexual assault, and sexual exploitation.
Ottawa Police allege Katherine Kitts, 44, a teaching assistant at Ottawa's Sir Robert Borden High School, was involved in a two-year sexual relationship dating back to 2011. Police say the boy was 15 years old when the alleged relationship began. Police say it turned sexual in April 2012 and continued until April 2014. The teens mother came forward to police prompting the investigation.
Kitts, a married mother of two teenage boys, has been released on bail.
OCDSB officials say Kitts has been placed on leave while the investigation is underway, "our primary focus is the safety and well-being of our students and staff."
Kitts is to appear in court October 29, 2014.
