A Glebe convenience store owner used a broom handle to foil a robbery suspect who was armed with a handgun.

Ottawa Police released a surveillance video which shows the robber brandishing a gun against the owner's back.

The suspect wore a white t-shirt over his head which fell after a scuffle with the owner behind the store counter.

The video then shows a captured  image of the suspect's face.

The store owner also told police he didn't believe the gun was authentic.

The attempeted robbery took place on Third Avenue on the night of June 2, 2014.

The suspect is described as a slim black male, between  20-25 years old, wearing a red T-shirt, black shorts and white basketball shoes.
