An annual report card on Ontario's elementary schools has ranked Ottawa schools at the top and bottom.

The Fraser Institute's elementary school report card was released Sunday morning and gave école élémentaire catolique Terre des Jeunes a maximum score of ten.

The school in the city's west end was one of 22 across the province to be given the top score, with an average ranking of 9.4 the last five years.

At the other end, Assumption Elementary in Vanier was one of 11 schools to receive a zero in its first appearance on the rankings.

The 2,733 schools are graded on nine categories, including scores on standardized tests and number of failing students.

For example, Terre des jeunes had 0.7 per cent of its students test below the provincial standard, while Assumption had 72.8 per cent.
