People across the nation’s capital are getting ready for the biggest bash in the country--Canada’s 145th birthday.

It will be a sea of red and white on Parliament Hill as hundreds of thousand celebrate what it means to be Canadian.

“You can be exactly what you want to be. You have freedom and it's your life,” said one woman.

More than 300 musicians will show off their talents, including Canadian R & B singer Jully Black.

“I'm like super stoked! My first time on the hill, are you kidding me? It's going to be fun,” said Black.

Canada’s Snowbirds will also “wow” the crowd during the noon show.

People can also hit a synthetic ice rink for some skating at Jacques Cartier Park.

“There will also be a spectacular jump by the Canadian Skyhawks, and the parachute demo team. The Canadian Coast Guard is going to have a 90 feet hovercraft that people can actually get on board and see,” said Denise Leblanc of the National Capital Commission.

“In addition, the Grey Cup is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, so people can get up close and personal with it.”

Canada Day will end with a bang. Fireworks will light the skies over the Ottawa River at 10 p.m.

There will be road closure across the city and parking is limited. Both OC Transpo and the STO are offering free bus service after 10 p.m. Sunday night.
