OTTAWA - The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid charges in connection to a recent retail robbery and additional charges are anticipated for a second.

On October 3, 2013, at approximately 1:40 am, a lone male entered a convenience store situated along the 300 block of Rideau Street. The male proceeded to make a small purchase, including cigarettes, but when asked for identification, he left the premises. He returned a short time later, jumped the counter, and made a demand for cash to the store employee. The suspect fled with a small but undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

On October 6, 2013, the suspect was arrested in connection to this investigation. Curtis CLOREY, age 20 of Ottawa, has been charged with robbery and breach of probation. He appeared in court October 7, and remains in custody, appearing next on October 10, 2013.

The Robbery Unit anticipates additional charges being laid in connection to a second robbery at a convenience store situated along the 400 block of Albert Street on the same date. On October 3, at 5:15 am, a lone male suspect vaulted the counter, pushed the store employee and made a demand for cash. The suspect fled the premises empty-handed. There were no injuries.
