Ottawa Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in the city's west end Wednesday night as 20-year-old Taylor Morrow-Flint.

Emergency crews were called to Ritchie Street around 7:30 p.m.

Police say Morrow-Flint was known to them and that right now there is no clear motive or suspect. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information.

Morrow-Flint also knew Jabeir Jemmie and Malik Adjokatcher. Adjokatcher was shot dead on Ritchie St. in 2013. Jemmie was stabbed to death outside a bar on Elgin St. in 2014. Both of those homicides remain unsolved.

“We always explore whether multiple homicides are connected in some way, shape or form. Right now there’s nothing indicating there’s anything connected to the Adjokatcher homicide from 2013 but we are still looking at it and exploring every possibility,” said Staff Sgt. Bruce Pirt with the Ottawa Police Major Crime Unit.

Late Wednesday, a group of family and friends were on scene, sobbing as they spoke to police. One woman could be overheard saying "My brother! My brother."

This is the fourth homicide of 2016 in Ottawa and the second this week.

On Monday night, 19-year-old Mohamed Ali Hassan was stabbed to death in Lawson Park on King George in the city's Overbrook area.

26-year-old Michael Leblanc has been charged with second degree murder in Hassan's death. Leblanc was arrested Tuesday morning and made his first court appearance later that day.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ottawa Police Major Crime unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
