OTTAWA - Today, the Ottawa Police Service East Division Traffic Enforcement Officers, along with Traffic escort and Neighborhood officers conducted a cell phone/seatbelt blitz on Highway 174 and on Innes Road. Police officers were in uniform and also in construction worker disguises.

As a result, officers issued 46 Provincial offence notices (PON) in approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

"We are reminding drivers that driving while using a cell phone is a dangerous distraction that could ultimately result in a collision", noted Cst. Jon Hall, East Traffic Enforcement. "Ottawa Police will continue to conduct traffic enforcement initiatives to improve road safety for all Ottawa residents."
