Good weather for Good Friday had Ottawa bustling with activity.

Two hundred people took part in Kanata's 26th annual Walk of the Cross, taking 90 minutes to carry a crucifix to different neighbourhood churches.

Participant Hazel O'Connor said the trip can be difficult, but it's worth it.

"For somebody that's short, yes you have to hold your hand up above your shoulder," she said. "But when you're thinking of what it means, you forget all that."

Commutes of other sorts were happening across the region, with Valley View Farms in Richmond hosting an Easter egg hunt for families and Gatineau parking lots hosting plenty of Ontario shoppers.

Closed stores on the 613 side of the Ottawa River meant that some Ontarians headed to Quebec.

"Our sub-pump failed and we live out in the country, so in situations like that it would be nice if there was some stuff open," said Bent Gellerich.
