A rescue capsule that helped keep 33 trapped Chilean miners alive last year is in Ottawa.

Starting Thursday, the NASA-designed Fenix capsule will be on display at the Canada Science and Technology Museum.

It was used to get materials down to those trapped in the San Jose Mine in Copiapó, Chile. It was a testing model for the other capsule which brought the miners to the surface.

It will be on display until May 1.

The capsule had previously been shown in Chile, China, and earlier this month in Toronto.
