A 41-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with Thursday's robbery of a Shoppers Drug Mart on Bank Street.

The suspect approached a clerk at about 3:40 p.m. and demanded drugs, saying he was armed. He escaped with narcotics, but there were no injuries.

A witness helped police locate the suspect on a bus.

Richard Fry is charged with two counts each of robbery and uttering threats and one count of disguising his face, possession of stolen property, and breach of probation.

Meanwhile, another Ottawa man faces charges after a west-end bank was robbed Wednesday night.

A man left a TD Bank branch on Merivale Road with cash at about 7:30 p.m. after handing a note to a teller saying he was armed.

Paul Doyle is charged with robbery, uttering threats, and breach of probation.
