ARNPRIOR, Ont. - A 27-year-old Ottawa man faces several charges in connection with a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle northwest of Arnprior.

Provincial police were conducting RIDE spot checks early Sunday at Highway 17 when a vehicle failed to stop.

Police say the car sped southeast from McNab-Braeside Township, left the highway near Arnprior and was abandoned a short time later.

Officers arrested a man in a ditch near the vehicle then took him to the local hospital for treatment of a broken hand and cuts suffered while trying to climb a fence.

The car was reported stolen from a parking lot in Renfrew the previous evening.

Liam Donnelly is charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property and flight from police.
