Ottawa Police have charged a young Ottawa man with online extortion and the harassment of three females.
An investigation was launched in January 2012, after police received a complaint from one of the three victims that she was being stalked online. As a result of the investigation police say they were able to identify two more victims, all in their 20’s.
Police executed a search warrant at an east-end home on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. The investigation resulted in 10 charges against Alexander Miller, 21, including three counts of “Extortion”, four counts of “Criminal Harassment”, one count of “Mischief Data”, one count of “Intercept Private Communication” and one count of “Attempt to Commit Summary Offence”.
Miller is to appear in court December 10, 2014.
Police are now urging victims of online bullying, extortion or harassment to come forward.
